William Grover Moore, Jr. (b. May 18, 1920, Waco, Tex.), U.S. Air Force officer, enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet and received his commission in 1941. During World War II, he commanded the 777th Bombardment Squadron, 15th Air Force, and during the Korean War, he commanded the 3rd Bombardment Group. From 1957 to 1961, he served as assistant deputy chief of staff, operations, at HQ U.S. Air Forces in Europe, and in 1962 began his airlift career as commander, 314th Group Carrier ...
